This project is being driven by 345kV Southern States RLS circuit switcher failures that have occurred on six different locations at four different ETT stations. Violent failures have resulted in subsequent operational constraints. Failure analysis of the units have illustrated design issues where significant vibration of the switcher during operation cause excessive heat.
